KIT INFORMATION PAGE
*****LATEST KIT NEWS***** We are just about to complete our first order and so within the next few weeks will have the opportunity to fabricate your chassis. If you are considering a kit, now is the time to place an order for a chassis. We are happy to supply the kit in separate parts, starting with the chassis, then the body kit and finally the trim and seat pack. If you are considering a build over the winter don't get caught out with a waiting list, for just an £800 deposit we will fabricate your chassis and discuss delivery options. This will enable you to commence work on building your rolling chassis. Then order your body to suit your build time. Don't forget we also try to keep some donor vehicles in stock, so why not give us a call to see if we can help.
The car is now available in 'self build' form once again. Below is listed the relevant information on prices, build time and delivery. We would like to thank everyone for their feedback and very positive comments from the various shows around the Country. The changes brought about to ensure SVA compliance on our latest Gentry are so subtle you will hardly notice the difference to those cars built by many owners over the last 34 years. We commenced our planning from the position of wanting to retain all the positive features and charm of the original TF. Much work was completed right at the start of the story by Roger Blockley when he built the first RMB Gentry back in 1973. We have revisited the body build and introduced some changes that have brought about greater strength and easier build characteristics. We have then added to this some quality items such as a chrome on brass screen and windscreen feet, a purpose made fuel tank and radiator in order to ensure that your finished car will have the necessary ‘polish’ to make it stand out from the many everyday cars on the road. Our business philosophy is to ‘be with you all the way during your build’ We aim to ensure that all our customers are given the support they require to build and finish their car to the highest standards. In order to achieve this we have written a completely new build manual, supplied when you order your kit, including a list of suppliers who can provide the various specialist parts required, provide telephone or email support as well as being able to supply those ‘finishing touches’ parts ourselves.
We see our customers as friends who are joining us and many others in the joys of Gentry building, driving and ownership.
In order to achieve a good build you will invest an amount of both time and money into the project. We want to see that both are well spent and that you achieve your goals and produce a car that you can be rightly proud of.
Each car is built to order. This can mean that at times there will be a waiting list. We make no apologies for that fact as we will not compromise on build quality in order to turn kits out quicker. We use a very simple rule to which all chassis and bodies are built, ‘Would I be happy with it if it was for me? If the answer is negative then I will not let it leave the workshop. That amount of care and attention does take time and that is the cost of being so fussy, but we believe that our customers appreciate that care and attention and so will wait that little bit longer for their kit.
Our kit allows you to remove the supplied dash in order to finish it any way you choose, seats can be of the bench type as in our demonstrator or individual seat type as in the Spitfire or Herald. We have tried to ensure that nearly everything you require can come from a single donor vehicle. One exception to this is with regards the twin cable handbrake but this is discussed in greater detail in the supplied build manual.
The running gear, engine etc are all taken from your Triumph Donor. Most of the Gentry's already built on Triumph gear used either the Herald or Spitfire as a donor. These are still available at a very reasonable price and all parts required for your new Gentry can be obtained either new or reconditioned from several Triumph specialists. We do try to keep some donor cars in stock so please contact us if looking for a donor. We would also suggest that you try to find a donor that has all the mechanical parts you will require but has gone beyond economical repair as far as being a useable car is concerned. We prefer to use cars that would otherwise be scrapped because of their very poor condition. The kit car industry was after all one of the first recyclers!

Payment
All kits are hand built to order. We endeavor to achieve a 10 – 12 week delivery time, from the time at which we commence the building of your kit. (The commencement of the build depends on the current commitments at the time of order. As each car is hand built, from time to time we do experience some delays in commencing the next build. If interested in a kit please contact us direct to establish the current estimated commencement date) We will discuss manufacture and delivery times with you at the time of order and confirm expected dates for delivery. Build time is increased if you choose the completed kit option, normally by about 2 or 3 weeks. If you wish to order the complete package in one go, a deposit of £1,800 is required at the time of order to enable work to commence on your car. If, initially you only wish to order the Chassis then an £800 deposit is required. When you are then ready to order the remainder of the kit a £1,200 deposit is required. Deposits are non-refundable, but in the event of unforeseen circumstances we will consider either a full or partial refund dependant upon the circumstances and the goods already ordered and work completed. The remaining balance is payable by credit card or cheque prior to delivery or in cash at the time of delivery. The cost of the kit includes one delivery within England and Wales. Other areas can be arranged but with a supplement. Further deliveries can be arranged at a cost of £60 plus £0.45 pence per mile. We use a covered trailer to deliver either your chassis or body (or both) to ensure that your car arrives in the same condition it left us. We are happy for you to collect either the chassis, body or both and would recommend that taking possession of the chassis at the earliest stage is to your advantage as it allows you to complete mechanical work on the chassis before your body tub arrives.
In the event of a waiting list developing you will not be required to pay the deposit to be placed on the list. A list will be maintained and when you reach second on the list you will be contacted to see if you wish to place an order. If you do, at that time the deposit will become payable. If you do not place an order you will be removed from the list until you make further enquiries.
We would strongly recommend that you make contact with the Gentry Register Before you commence your build. You are likely to find members living within your area who can provide advice, support and even assistance you’re your build. Remember that we are also available either via email or on the telephone to provide assistance and support. The best time to speak directly to Geoff is between 6pm and 7pm on weekdays and between 9am and 6pm on Saturdays. You can contact us between 9am and 6pm during the week but if busy in the workshop Geoff may not be available. On those occasions Ellen will provide whatever assistance she can and ensure that your query is dealt with promptly. Numbers and contact details will be given to those purchasing kits so that you have the necessary information. We aim to answer emails within 48 hours, even if it is just to let you know when you can expect a more detailed response. We are hoping that in the future we may be able to provide a collection service for SVA tests, with a pre-test examination (and advice where necessary), delivery to test and transport back after the test. Please contact us for prices and availability of this service.
