DEVELOPMENT  ISSUES

Just a quick few notes for those either looking for donor vehicles or have obtained a donor and need to know which bits to keep and which to dispose of.

We currently have 2 Herald 13/60's, complete, as collected.  They have not been checked over at all and are sold as seen. We were informed that one of them has an unleaded head already fitted.  This has not been confirmed.

The second one is a very low mileage car with excellent mechanics, but the remainder of the car has almost totally given up the ghost!

For more details please give us a call 0n 02476382973

For those who have already located a donor below is the list of parts that you will require;

V5 for the donor vehicle.  Do not let it go with the rest of the car when it is scrapped.  You will most likely receive an age related number after the Gentry has been SVA'd but you will need it for proof of engine age etc for the SVA test and to get the age related number as above.

You will then require most if not all the running gear.

The front suspension, steering and brakes.

The rear suspension, Drive shafts, brakes and Diff

Prop shaft. (will require altering, but you've got to have one to alter!)

Engine, gearbox (overdrive if fitted)

Steering column (will need to be lengthened) Keep all brackets that fit the column as we have yet to develop our own. The steering wheel from the donor will not pass the SVA test.  You may make a decision to change it after the test, that is down to your individual choice. We will have an SVA approved wheel for hire whilst your vehicle undergoes the test.

Don't' forget when stripping out the front suspension that you will require the suspension turrets or towers as well as the tapped plates behind the mounting brackets on the chassis.  (These turrets are often overlooked as with time the grease and grime will make them look like they are part of the chassis.  You will need them and finding 'spare' second hands ones is becoming very difficult.

The gearbox mounting bracket across between the chassis rails is also required.

We are currently looking at a heated front screen to save the need to fit demisters for the SVA. If this is successful it will be your choice whether you wish to fit a heater.  If so you may choose to use the one from the donor car.  New, smaller and more efficient ones are available but at a cost (it depends how much you feel the cold!)

We are putting a rapid fit wiring loom into the demonstrator to see how easy a job it is.  Once we have tried it we will see how to recommend it so there shouldn't be any need for any of the wiring loom from the donor to be saved.

The kit will also be supplied with a new made to measure petrol tank complete with sender unit and a new radiator so again there is no need to save them from the donor.

That should keep you going for a while!  If you need to know more or are in any doubt please call us on 02476382973.

Once we launch the latest version then obviously the latest literature will be available and all necessary photo's, instructions etc will be available in the build manual currently being written.
